MSU Football Coach Hull's Letter
March 20, 2014
I hope this letter reaches you in good health and spirits! I wanted to take a few minutes to introduce myself to the Morgan State University family. My name is Lee Hull and I am the new football coach here at Morgan State University. I am extremely happy and proud to represent this great institution as head football coach and I will do my best to represent you and this institution in a first-class manner as we work towards a MEAC Championship.
I want you to know that my number one goal as head football coach is to help our student-athletes graduate from Morgan State University. We will do that by putting a structure in place that encourages success in the classroom, on the football field and in the community. I believe that I have assembled an outstanding coaching staff of men that will be great teachers and role models for our young men.
I want you to know that we want you to be involved with the program. You have an open invitation to spring practice. You have an open invitation to stop by the football offices and meet me and the coaching staff. I would love for you to talk to the team so that they can begin to understand and appreciate the history and traditions that many of you were a part of creating.
Morgan State University is a special place and I am honored to be a part of it. With 17 CIAA and 2 MEAC championships, 4 NFL Hall of Famers and hundreds of former players that have played professional football, there is a history of achievement and winning that we are trying to restore. WE NEED YOUR HELP TO DO THAT.
We need you on campus and at our games. We need you at practice. If you can’t get here, write us a letter that we can share with the team. If we play in your area, come to the game. If you see a recruit in your area, let us know. If you can support the program financially, please do so. I understand everyone cannot do it all, but even a $50 donation will go a long way towards helping us achieve our goals.
We have a lot of work to do to get this program to a MEAC Championship level. Your help and support will be a big part of turning this program around and we cannot do it without your help. There are many areas we need to improve and we will be trying to raise funds to secure items we need to run an effective college football program.
We have finalized our 2014 schedule. I am very excited about this schedule as my first season as head coach approaches. We have 2 non-conference road games to start the season, followed by an exciting match-up against an in-state opponent. Our non-conference schedule begins with FBS opponent Eastern Michigan University on the road on August 30th. We follow that game with a trip to Massachusetts to play my alma mater, Holy Cross on September 6th and come home for our first game against Bowie State University on September 13th. The Bowie State game gives us a great opportunity to fill Hughes Stadium with Blue and Orange as we look to win my first home game at Morgan State University. We need you there to support our team! I will include a copy of our full schedule at the end of this letter.
I would also like to invite you to our BLUE & ORANGE Spring Football Game on April 26th at 1pm in Hughes Stadium. This will be a great opportunity to meet your new coaching staff and meet our players. We will also have a social after the game where we will introduce the coaches, current players, incoming freshmen players and other alumni in attendance. It will be a great day for the program and I WANT TO SEE YOU THERE!
Please give coach Fred Farrier a call at 443-885-4815 or send an email to email@example.com to confirm your attendance or ask questions about how you can donate to the program or assist in other ways. We need your help and any help will be helping us get to a MEAC Championship! I look forward to seeing you in Hughes Stadium on April 26th!
